detroit.dance – “the heartbeat of detroit”
I wanted to design an alternate logo to use, but have it be something meaningful. I adore simplicity, which is represented in the logo I have currently been using. So, I wanted to further that simplicity in this design as well. After messing with it a few different ways, I landed on this – the mirror of the Detroit skyline looks exactly like a heartbeat – and as someone who keeps their pulse on what is going on in the Detroit electronic scene, it fit. The text in a circle represents the tight knit bond and unity that holds us together, not only as a scene but as a city.
I hope you all love this alternate logo like I do.
Today I also announce a limited edition merch collab with this new logo & Detroit streetwear brand, Dirty Rotten Threads. I’ve had a hoodie of theirs that says “If found, return to Detroit, MI” that I absolutely love for a while now. Their brand always stuck out to me after that and when another amazing individual in the industry TekNoNo recently did a collab with DRT, it all clicked.
Starting today 9/20 thru Saturday 10/2 : tees, crop hoodies, crewnecks are available for preorder on the Dirty Rotten Threads website.
Each item has “the heartbeat of detroit” on the back, the crop has it on the lower edge instead of the middle.
Thank you for all of the support, can’t wait to see everyone rockin’ the new logo.
