Rigatoni Mezzogiorno – TYLR_

Recipes by Request : a play on what happens during a DJ’s set… combining my love of cooking with the featured guest DJ.


Background Story:

When I first came to Detroit I was a server at Pete’s Place in Ferndale. This was my favorite dish on the menu. Simple, flavorful and slightly spicy. Add more red pepper flakes for more fire.



  • 1 Pound Rigatoni
  • 4 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 4 Cloves Garlic
  • 1 Pound Italian Sausage
  • ½ Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Bell Pepper, Sliced
  • ¼ Pound Kale, Chopped
  • ¼ Cup Parmesan
  • Salt and Pepper to taste


  1. Cook Rigatoni per instructions.
  2. Cook Italian sausage, red pepper flakes, and garlic in the olive oil, over medium heat, until just cooked through.
  3. Add sliced bell peppers and kale, cook until still al dente, about 3 minutes.
  4. Toss rigatoni with sausage mixture.
  5. Stir in parmesan.
  6. Enjoy!
