I was able to catch up with each of the Road to Movement featured DJs (and a few surprise guests) after their Movement sets for a quick lightning round of a few questions. Photos by me!
AUGUSTUS WILLIAMS
His debut Movement set was energetic and the crowd was filled with longtime supporters and friends – Augustus really made Detroit proud. I was able to catch up with him for a few minutes after his set and here are his thoughts:
detroit.dance: How do you feel post-set?
Augustus: I felt like I was at home. I thought I was going to be nervous but I wasn’t. My mom was next to me and my son was in front of me with all of my friends, so there was no pressure for me. I did my thing. I think if I didn’t have all of my people surrounding me I would have been way nervous.
detroit.dance: You previously said you usually go out to eat before you play, so what did you have?
Augustus: That didn’t happen this time. Everything was too chaotic. Usually I’d enjoy the festival and play an after party but with me playing this year there were too many moving parts. But after I played we had chicken on a stick and it changed my life.
detroit.dance: How many fresh socks have you gone through?
Augustus: I’ve changed out five pairs so far. Two or more a day. Lifesaving.
